what are those “mannequins” that seamstresses often have called?
and can you get them to be an exact form/size of you…and is it pricey?
i’d like to pick up sewing and making some of my own clothes. I feel like it would be tiring to have to constantly try on my projects in progress when i could just put it on my “double”
They are called dress forms.
Nobody can find a dress form that fits them exactly, but you can find ones that are adjustable. Some cheap ones that get the job done can be found at local fabric stores. But even if you get a dress form that is super close to your body shape, you’ll still want to try the clothes on in progress once or twice. A dress form doesn’t mimic the way we naturally stand or hold our body.
